02 / THE APPROACH

Software is
a skilled trade.

Better tools still need a capable builder.

AI has made building software more accessible. Professional care still matters: understanding the job, making sound decisions, testing the details, and leaving work that can be maintained.

I think of myself as a digital construction worker. The goal is straightforward: build something useful, build it carefully, and make sure it fits the people who use it.

  1. 01

    Understand the job

Talk through the problem, the people, and the way your business works.

  2. 02

    Agree on the build

Set a clear scope and realistic expectations before work begins.

  3. 03

    Build, test, refine

Check the details and review the result against the work it needs to do.

  4. 04

    Keep it working

Plan maintenance and improvements by agreement as your needs change.

03 / THE BUILDER

A real person.
Accountable for the work.

I’m Joseph Dillon, the developer behind Steel Lion Technologies in Pittsburgh.

Sixteen years of Army service and leadership are a central part of my story. Today, I bring that experience to a hands-on software practice built around preparation, responsibility, and follow-through.

My software background spans business applications at PPG, financial applications at Refinitiv, and research tools at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Steel Lion brings that experience to the everyday problems of small and medium businesses.

When we work together, you talk directly with me—from the first conversation through the build and any ongoing care we agree on.
